Sellafield

Construction Controller Room.

Sellafield is a vast and versatile nuclear facility located near Seascale on the shores of Cumbria, England. It’s primary activities include the processing and storage of nuclear waste and the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Spanning an expansive 265 hectares (650 acres), the licensed site boasts over 200 nuclear structures and more than 1,000 buildings. It stands as Europe's largest nuclear complex, hosting the most extensive array of nuclear facilities worldwide within a single location. The workforce size at the site fluctuates and was approximately 10,000 people before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Central Laboratory and headquarters of the UK's National Nuclear Laboratory are situated on this site. Employing interactive touchscreen displays and immersive experiences, we are facilitating enhanced work processes at the site, offering easy access for the construction team to delve into the blueprints and identify potential issues. Consequently, this approach ensures a smoother commencement of work, minimizing the likelihood of delays and enabling proactive issue resolution.

“The [Cine system] allows 3D modelling and 4D planning to be executed ‘live’ on the site and enhances the project’s daily ‘line of sight’ planning by allowing people to visualise the plan and interfaces.” - Steve Harnwell, Head of Product and Residue Store Retreatment Plant, Sellafield Ltd
